hormones: a compound made and secreted from the endocrine gland to other parts of the body
virulence: the ability of bacteria to cause infections

| Thyroid Gland: Produces Insulin, a common hormone |
Students from the South-Wester Medical School said pathogenic bacteria in the gut recognize hormones and react more quickly to bacteria. The hormones alert the immune system, which creates the hormones, to the bacteria. This initiates the immune response much faster, and it will help to cure diseases.
Discussion
This is amazing because it will help us to treat diseases much faster. Also, hormones such as insulin are usually not very harmful. Also, it might be able to help explain the significance of hormones in the immune system.
Questions
How does it work? Would this work against viral infections or is it only viable on bacterial infections? Also, could we synthetically produce this without the effect of hormones.

You have good questions, and your summary and discussion seem to be about the topic, but there is not a lot of actual detail in what you wrote that shows you READ the topic..
ReplyDeletea detail you can add is how the students figured out that the pathogenic bacteria in the gut recognizes hormones... What kinds of hormones does it recognize... do you know who the students are? Why were yu interested in this topic....? A little more data (+ some more info of your opinion) would help improve this a lot more...
When you wrote, "This is amazing because it will help us to treat diseases much faster. Also, hormones such as insulin are usually not very harmful. Also, it might be able to help explain the significance of hormones in the immune system."
how will this help treat diseases, and why?
how come insulin isn't harmful and why is this even relevant to the topic you used...
ADD MORE DETAILS!!!!!!
(answer ALL the questions that Mr. Contini provides to help us, bloggers, write a good summary and discussion)
I chose to read your article, because i love biology(mainly human body)... and this was an excellent article to choose... just improve your post so that it will actually be useful and grab readers and make them want to learn more and read more about it... you don't really do that... you juststate a few facts and say it's done...
nice job!

This is a very interesting topic, but there was not a whole lot there, so it was hard to get a lot out of it. I also found some parts pretty confusing, and you did not explain most of it. Some questions I'm left with is "what is the importance of the gut recognizing hormones, and what bacteria would it react more quickly to?"
ReplyDelete- interesting choice for an article
ReplyDelete- good formatting, your sections were clearly labeled
DEFINITIONS
- you included all the words that were needed to be known in order to understand the article, good job
SUMMARY
- your summary is the area in which you should work the hardest for your next CSB
- you should try to add more information.....mention a lot more specifics of Sperandio's study......
- although your sentence of summary provided a good gist of the article, it was not detailed enough as the assignment guidelines suggested it be, so remember to elaborate for next time
DISCUSSION
- you bring up some interesting points in this section
great job here!
QUESTIONS
- your questions coincide with what most readers wonder after reading the article
RESOURCES
- remember to add an image citation
- i didn't see your image where your article was..
Overall, great job. Just remember to give more details for your next CSB. :)
Hi Thyne,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting on my article. I will add some more on the topic next time. I wasn't exactly sure how much to put, but I agree I should have added more. Thanks.
